Evolutionist finishes 2nd in the 1000 Guineas

3YO filly Evolutionist (Night Of Thunder x Model Guest) has once again done the team at Ace Stud incredibly proud with a gallant run in the Gr.1 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

She led the far-side group throughout the race, but was beaten by the Aidan O’Brien-trained True Love (No Nay Never) by 1 3/4 lengths in the final stages. Evolutionist reversed the second and third placings from last year’s Gr.1 Fillies Mile though by finishing ahead of Venetian Lace (Masar).

The Gr.3 Prix de la Grotte winner is now dual-Gr.1 placed.

Speaking to the TDN after the race, trainer Karl Burke said:

“She is all heart. Shane [Foley] said the ground was as quick as she would want it–he said she couldn’t go any quicker on that ground. She will stay further and I would say she will go straight to the Prix de Diane now. I think the Irish 1,000 Guineas will come too soon for her, as she had a hard race there. She is a very good filly that is progressive and hopefully a step up in trip will find some more improvement.”
